Now on Show: Chicagoisms at the Art Institute of Chicago

The exhibition, curated by Alexander Eisenschmidt and Jonathan Mekinda, surveys Chicago’s rich urban history and explores contemporary approaches to five Chicagoisms - key historical principles that have powered the city’s distinctive evolution.

As one of nine international architects invited to investigate and interpret one of the five Chicagoisms through an installation, MVRDV’s contribution ‘City Pig’ explores in the context of Chicago, which was nicknamed the ‘hog butcher for the world’, how pig farming could be brought back into the city to make it an integral part of the urban fabric once again, to make it visible, transparent, ecological and a natural part of our life.

The exhibition will run through 4 January 2015.
